If I Were a Pen
I bought this pen while I was in Disney World. I have since decided that this pen is, in fact, my pen incarnation. Look at it. It's pink. It has maribou feathers and tinsel. It has a princess on it and it writes in pink sparkly ink.



And if that weren't enough... It lights up. Yeah, meet Kim the Pen.



I have an awesome new purse, a visor, a cookbook (the yellow post-it is my suggestion for my next dinner with Jen, Bob & Monika), and a t-shirt. I also bought myself a really cute track jacket--it's beige with a little pink mickey embroidered on it. But it is in my car, and I'm not going out to get it.









Dialogues from Disney World:
Katie: I can't open my soda.
Kim: Give it to me.
Katie: Like you'll be able to open it. (Gives it.)
Kim: (Opens it.) You loosened it.
Katie: Shut up.
Kim: (Tries to open own soda.) I can't open my soda.
Katie: That sucks.
Kim: We're gonna have to ask somebody. (To random cast member walking by) Excuse me?
Boy: Yes? Can I help you with something?
Kim: Can you open this?
Boy: Um, okay, sure. (Does.)
Kim: Thanks.
Boy: I've never been asked that before.

Okay, total weirdness: Did you know squirrels bark? Yeah. I was walking up to my condo after work and I heard this weird squawking noise. I located the squirrel in the tree, then ran inside for my camera. I took a little video of the squirrel in the tree, and you can totally hear him. Listen closely (I know the quality's not that great) that weird squawk is the SQUIRREL! The video is fricking huge (21MB) and I don't have any software that will edit it (at the moment), but I'm working on that. The squirrel would not pose for me, so here's some help in locating the squirrel in the video:



In other exciting blog-related news: I passed 5,000 hits to this page! Thanks for caring about my insane rambling. I think I was actually the 5,000th hit, while I was testing and fixing the new layout.

You've lived in St. Louis for how long and never heard a squirrel make noise?? But squirrels make that noise all the time- when you come to close to their tree, when you come to close to their food, when you let the cats out of the house and they are being stalked- all times I've heard squirrels squeal. There was also that one time when one got into my dorm stairwell at school and ran up and down the stairs for no less than an hour until some poor cleaning guy showed up with a broom and a butterfly net to shoo him out. Though I could be slightly mistaken there because the squirrel squealing was drowned out by about 50 girls darting around chattering and squealing themselves.

I've heard it before--from squirrels in this particular tree in fact--but it was only recently that I realized that was a squirrel noise. And even more recently still that I've had the technology (yay shiny camera!) to capture the craziness of squirrel noises.

If I had to guess what sound squirrels would make, it would be more of a clicking noise, I suppose, and the squealing bark is surprising.

Somewhere, there is a pen looking at a picture of you saying, "if only I were a human, I would look like this girl" Look how she is all pretty, and wearing that pink jacket that she left in her car, (even though the neighborhood is full of riff-raff) and look how she lights up, if only I were a human I would be just like that girl" and all the other pen's are saying "You wish!!"
