I Can Call Him a Flower if I Want To
Jen came over to lend moral support, watch Gilmore Girls and eat ice cream. Then we took a quiz:

Jen was Winnie the Pooh.

Today was my grandpa's funeral. He had a full Marine honor guard salute--and a police escort for the procession, once we got into the city. It was very cool. Today I finally started to feel closer to normal. It's more of a blank feeling than good, but it's infinitely better than before.

Kim,

Just keep your memories of Grandpa in your heart. He was "simply complicated" to use an oxymoron. He didn't have a formal education through 12 grades but he did have an awful lot of knowledge about things and people. I was sometimes at odds with him on issues but I think I always knew he was trying to push me onto the right path. As he (we) got older, I understood more and more of what was behind a lot of the things he did or said. The old axiom that the older my dad got the smarter he seemed certainly applied in the case of Grandpa and me. The one thing I know for certain is that Dad loved us all. I hope you know that I feel about you in the same way. I only want to see you happy and fulfilled. Keep praying to God to allow you to reach your ultimate purpose(s) here on Earth.

Love,

Dad
